Friends,
I'm on a beach somewhere this week, trying to switch off and reboot. I’m not good at doing this, so I’m trying to literally unplug. My digital consumption will be limited - just a book or two from the list below. I thought you might enjoy what I have bought to read but have not yet had the time to consume. It’s a weird concept but apparently quite common. It’s got a Japanese word: Tsundoku.
“Tsundoku (積ん読) refers to the phenomenon of acquiring reading materials but letting them pile up in one's home without reading them. It is also used to refer to books ready for reading later when they are on a bookshelf.” Given that I buy my books almost exclusively on Kindle, this is a Digital Tsundoku of sorts - a bit like a disease of wanting to read more than I can consume. You’ll see my mid-life-crisis mixed with hopes for the future mixed with efficiency all reflected in the list.
Remember - I haven't read these books - but I really want to - and have purchased them on Kindle (usually at a massive discount).
Are there any books you would recommend reading based on this list? Any books that you are aching to read? Any books that you have loved recently? Add them in the comments.
Here’s my virtual non-fiction shelf in a kind of no-specific-order balanced with man-I-need-to-read-this-book:
