Legacy
Editor's Note
Hello from London!
I lost my long-time mentor, friend, thought partner and magic maker this week, after a long bout of illness. Mee-Yan opened doors to jobs and supported my personal growth in roles and in life. She also became a very close friend over the last nearly two decades. I, and many others, have felt extreme sadness over these past days, and she will leave a significant gap in our lives. But, for me, for others and for many organisations she has left a legacy. I know now how lucky a position I was to have been mentored by her. For those of you wanting to understand OD from Mee Yan's perspective, I'd suggest this video of her explaining the concept.
While her area of work was different and adjacent from what I do, organizational development is a field that is important and fits into technology evolvement and this changing world. I didn't quite get it when I was earlier in my career, but with experience comes some wisdom. I hope that the wisdom that she brought to others will create a movement of change. One of the many lessons I learned was that working for the betterment of others creates a stronger world - and that if we seek to aim for upliftment of others, we can all grow.
Thanks for reading.
