Pay with your Face
Editor's Note
Hello from London!
Among the links today, you'll see the Mastercard "pay with your face" story. This type of technology ten years ago was something that we were amazed at, but biometrics and associated technologies form part of our day to day when we access our phones, or at passport control. But there are adjacent solutions to similar problems. Amazon's "just walk out" tech solves much of the same issue. Cashierless shopping is something that really sits in the nice to have lifestyle technology - but, in actuality, shows just how far we have come.
You'll also see, this week, the story of the maturity of Uber as a business model. To get to market and market adoption, Uber made it easy to book a cab from A to Z - and to pay - and it was cheap. Now that we have moved to that behaviour, would we shift back to booking taxis and minicabs in the old-school way, even if the price has gone up? Technology changes behaviour and makes our life easier - and that's how we make progress, year on year, industry on industry.
