Friends,
We reached Peak ChatGPT Hype probably at the end of April. It’s when the media couldn’t stop talking about ChatGPT.
We are still a bit obsessed with ChatGPT, but OpenAI continues to and will form the basis of the New AI Web. ChatGPT already has almost the amount of web traffic as LinkedIn according to SimilarWeb with 1.6bn monthly visits and 200M monthly users. OpenAI also has become the de facto LLM used by hundreds of partners, from Microsoft to Khan Academy to Buzzfeed to Salesforce.
And while the world is moving quickly, with seemingly hundreds of new startups launching every month, ChatGPT is still the main use case - “the Google of AI”. Those with adjacent use cases of companion-based AI tools will be sorry to see ChatGPT steal such a march - But it was them who launched and defined the category.
The top AI Web products according to A16z by monthly visit show a broad range of tool that are a new age of products dominating our active work-life. And if larger incumbents grow, the whole sector grows.
Google may just win the end consumer game such is their domination as a destisnation but it is somewhat determined whether they can transform their product offering quickly enough for users to feel comfortable with the transition. We all know how jarring it is when the product that you want decides to do something different catering for the marginals.
I’m interested in what is happening in other tools. Things that will completely change communication across borders - to potentially nullify the need to learn language. HeyGen, for example will dub your voice in another language and manipulate your image so your lips match the sounds.
With so many tools announced every day, we’re bound to miss the best ones - but this certainly had me dumbfounded!
Stay Curious - and don’t forget to be amazing,
A Banksy got everyday investors 32% returns?
Mm-hmm, sure. So, what’s the catch?
We know it may sound too good to be true. But thousands of investors are already smiling all the way to the bank, thanks to the fine-art investing platform Masterworks.
These results aren’t cherry-picking. This is the whole bushel. Masterworks has built a track record of 15 exits, including net returns of +10.4%, +27.3%, and +35.0%, even while financial markets plummeted.
But art? Really? Okay, sceptics, here are the numbers. Contemporary art prices:
outpaced the S&P 500 by 131% over the last 26 years
have the lowest correlation to equities of any asset class
remained stable through the dot-com bubble and the ’08 crisis
