I loved this take on memory and computers. I think computers as witnesses to humanity, both recording our interactions with one another and our own creations has distorted our ability to gauge what’s really impactful. AI makes the listening by computers more active and starts to replace that feeling of connection received when a person says “good job” as it says that for everything. You start to better understand how we got here when everything created gets dutifully remembered word for word vaulting horrible ideas to the same plane as the brilliant ones. Thanks for sharing this. A whole buffet for thought.

I really loved reading this and it speaks to something so vital. We are losing the ability to forget and also the agency in what we remember and how we remember things. This is why it's very comforting to see an increase in content around journaling and more analogue ways of memory-keeping. This has sparked so many thoughts for me, I'll definitely be revisiting this essay.
